Day 5 (Fri 4/20): A Hike, Lourdes Catholic School, and a Baseball Game

This morning, we got up a little early to squeeze in a short hike. We drove out to Sonoita Creek State Park, where we walked up to a great vista of Patagonia Lake, the hillsides and valleys of the region, and one last view over into Mexico, across Nogales. Then, we headed home to pack up and empty out our beloved home, Casa Saeta.

For our last hurrah in Nogales, we visited Lourdes Catholic School, a Catholic PreK-12 school where many of the students are Mexican citizens and cross the border each day for school. We attended their all-school Mass for Easter season and joined in with their blessing over their senior class. After Mass, we had lunch and talked with some juniors and seniors, many of whom work with Kino Border Initiative as part of the Kino Teens program. They then invited us to their games assembly, where Jose and Elia joined some seniors in competing for their class. We left Nogales for the last time around 2pm to head north to Phoenix.

We had dinner at In-N-Out Burger, a west coast institution, and then we headed into Phoenix for the Diamondbacks game. We got to see a near no-hitter and a close game to the end. We're now settled in for our last night in Arizona before heading home.

Fun night at the game #BensBorderlands
